Positive Disruption Day with the Everyday Heroes of Shropshire Virtual School

FEATURED, Speaking

This was a Positive Disruptor Day like never before – a takeover by incredible young minds! I had the privilege of spending the day and guiding an interactive workshop with care-experienced young people.

When a client hands you the reins to create a conference that’s bound to turn heads, especially with a takeover by care-experienced youth, you’re hooked from the start.

Together we planned a day including an interactive keynote from me, followed by a workshop with the young people, and then the takeover element.

The workshop was incredibly humbling and powerful to hear the young people verbalise how they wanted to be seen by the adults fighting for their highest good.

“I wish that when you talk to me you would do it as if we were equal”

and questions like:

“How can you help me repair relationships with friends and adults around me when things go wrong?”

Our Positive Disruption Day featured a tricky balloon challenge for the grown-ups and a choice of cool “T-Shirt Of Truth” for the students. They all went for my “Positive Disruptor” tee, one even saying, “This is so me! I’m wearing it on the next non-uniform day!”

It was a special day, chatting with the real heroes of Shropshire Virtual School and listening to the dreams of these incredible young souls. Then the wonder that is Mark Finnis brought the day to land!

From discussions at the boardroom table, challenging conventional answers, and navigating the complexities of foster care. We got to listen to what these young people truly felt and wanted!

It was more than a workshop; it was a celebration of resilience and the power of youthful voices.
