I’ve massively struggled with this one.
I felt that taking time out for myself was indulgent. But ask yourself, who wants a bitter, twisted, exhausted human showing up for them? Not me!
When you insist on filling up the cups of others while paying your own cup no mind (as my dear old nan used to say) you’re the proud owner of a one way ticket to Burnout Central.
Even worse – you are modelling to those closest to you that a good human ignores their own needs!
Instead, recharge your mind and body like you do your iPhone!
I don’t know about you but there has to be a mainline disaster at our house for me to forget to charge my phone at night.
Re-charging isn’t selfish, it’s a necessity.
Let’s shatter the myth that self-care is indulgent or something to feel guilty about – quite the opposite in fact. People can tell how much you care by how much you care about your most valuable resource – yourself!
Make a deliberate and responsible choice that not only sustains you but also ripples positively into the lives you touch.
Remember, taking care of yourself isn’t a luxury – it’s a prerequisite for showing up in the world with authenticity and resilience. Stop making excuses and get on it!
