How Being 10% Braver Led To My Own Netflix Show (Hopefully!) 🤯

Ambitious Resilience, FEATURED, Speaking

Here’s to WILD, Audacious goals!

Here’s a sentence I can’t believe I’m actually writing…

The short film about my childhood has been submitted to The Netflix Documentary Talent Fund.

PINCH ME! 💃

In the last two years, there have been thousands of entries, and only 15 have been chosen. The resulting short films are absolutely breathtaking.

The odds aren’t favourable but the theme this year is: “You’re never going to believe this…” and my story of the power of everyday heroes transforming my life is such a great fit!

Whether the doc is selected or not, I’m celebrating anyway.

Here’s why…

At the start of 2024, I set a pretty impressive 5-year SWAG – Seriously Wild & Audacious Goal.

I’d like my own Netflix show.

I thought people would tell me that it was too big.

In fact, very few of my team members, hosts on podcasts, or friends raised an eyebrow!

One matter-of-fact response from an event booker was: “I’d expect nothing less from Miss 10% Braver!”

It felt huge and unreachable, but then overcoming adversity and then going on to become an award-winning international speaker, running a leadership development business with my husband and creating our own family definitely would have seemed impossible to a younger me.

It’s never too late to have a happy childhood, so, well, why not?

Celebrating is a tactic I employ in my everyday life. For example, I’m 9 weeks into learning to walk again after rupturing my MCL. Not being the most patient of patients, I’ve been frustrated at my life being constricted! I’ve also marked every tiny move forward, like being able to stand, walk 100m (with one crutch) and finally do a bit of a one-legged dance when YMCA comes on the ole gramophone!

Too often, we keep potential success on the down low and wait for the finish line to celebrate. Just in case it doesn’t work and… well, what? We look like we’ve failed? Failing is part of moving forward.

No matter what happens, I’m celebrating the:

  • long hours spent crafting my keynotes
  • small victories that led to huge breakthroughs

and most importantly…

  • the courage it took to even try

Let’s stop living as if we have spare lives hanging up in the wardrobe. Life’s too short to postpone joy until the “perfect” moment.

The magic isn’t just in the destination – it’s in turning the volume down on your imposter syndrome, being 10% braver and taking the first step.

I’ll let you know how it goes with Netflix but honestly I’m so encouraged and grateful to be standing, breathing and living today I’m celebrating either way!

My best
